Permanent Way Incidents

Reports - 1 - 50, 51 - 99, 100 - 150, 151 - 199, 200 - 249, 250 - 284,

Amongst my fathers papers I found a list taken from a Permanent Way Inspectors notebook or diary. It detailed all the permanent way problems that he had attended between 8th December 1948 and the 5th June 1952 and notes the cause and rectification of each problem.

Most of the problems are dealt with extremely quickly, It seems strange to us now that a (simple) derailment of a car would in the 1950's only interupt services for around fifteen minutes whereas nowadays services would be interupted usually for the rest of the day.

It has not been recorded who wrote the diary so nothing can be attributed.
